When do you feel as an LEO you have to win?: As an LEO i think it's important to win in all interactions with the public. To me this can mean many things from resolving conflicts, apprehending suspects, high speed chases, to officer down situations. To win as a law enforcement officer to me means to uphold the law in an impartial way and to protect individuals of their rights. By sticking to my morals and upholding the law in a just standard is a win for me.
Why do you want to join the Blaine County Sheriff's Office: My desire to join the BCSO comes from a deep commitment to public service and safety of the community I live in. In past careers I have served as a law enforcement officer and paramedic ensuring the safety of the citizens, by joining the BCSO I see another opportunity to contribute my skills to the betterment of Blaine county. I am also looking forward to working with a dedicated team of fellow officers who are just as Eagar to serve as myself.
What are some strengths and weaknesses of your character?: One of my biggest strengths come from my background in EMS and law enforcement. In these roles the most valuable skill i have obtained is learning how to effectively communicate. Communication is essential for effective and efficient teamwork as well as when dealing with the public. Weather its a high speed pursuit, collaborating with other agencies, or attempting verbal de-escalation strategies. Communication is essential and a skill that I am able to excel in. A weakness of mine is reluctance to seek help. As a public servant I have a high degree of trust to enforce the law and do my job. In this I take immense pride in being self-reliant, and not feeling that I need to take others away from their tasks to help me. While most of the time this is a strength and allows me to take imitative in challenges situations and find practical solutions. At times it can be a weakness as when I am overwhelmed or have taken on more than I can handle. I do not always want to come forward and ask for assistance from my peers.
Tell us about more about yourself and your background: My name is Honda Higgins I arrive by way of Florida. In past careers I have served multiple governmental roles. These have ranges from careers such as law enforcement, department of justice, and emergency medical services. I didn't come with any family nor did I bring any friends., I came to start a new life and build a legacy that I can be proud of. I aspire to work my way through the ranks and to become an FTO. I want to serve my fellow officers as well as the citizens of Blaine county.
