Police Ride-along Regulations

THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON A RIDE-ALONG WITH THE AFP IS CONSIDERED A PRIVILEGE AND NOT A RIGHT. AFP RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY YOUR REQUEST FOR A RIDE-ALONG AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON

 

Rules & Regulations

1. To partake in a ride-along, you must not be wanted for any crimes at the given time you are participating in a ride-along. If you are wanted for any crimes, you will be arrested and processed accordingly for the crimes you are wanted for.

2. Before going on a ride-along you will be strip searched and any weapons regardless of the legality will be removed from your persons for the duration of the ride-along (if you are in possession of an illegal firearm it will not be returned).

3. Whilst on a ride-along, you are there to observe and listen to officers in the line of duty. You are not to interact with anyone being processed, and you are not allowed to actively involve yourself in a police situation. Doing so will end your ride-along promptly.

4. Your reputation within Australia will be considered when processing your ride-along request. If you have been in trouble in the past, this will greatly affect your odds of being accepted for a ride-along.

5. You will be issued with a hi-vis vest which you will be required to wear at all times whilst on your ride-along. This vest will be returned to the officer taking you out, at the end of the ride-along.

 

Feel free to ask the officer assigned to take you out on a ride-along any questions regarding a situation he just dealt with, or anything you are curious about and wish to know more.
